Adding IMAP c-client libraries to stock Leopard Server

I have a customer who wants to install a CRM that uses the IMAP c-client libraries to perform its incoming e-mail functions. I've been having problems because I can't find any instructions at the CRM's site/fora, nor does there seem to be anything informative at the PHP sites I've searched. :-/

From what I can tell so far, it should be possible to install these libraries without recompiling php. I REALLY don't want to touch the Apple php installation if I don't have to.

Anyone know if it's possible and, if so, how to get the IMAP c-client libraries installed on Leopard Server, WITHOUT messing with Apple's installation? Thanks for any pointers, suggestions, instructions, etc..

Trevor.
