10.4 cannot rebuild mirror

Hi,

Our RAID mirror is showing degraded on our mail server. The diskutil
checkRAID command produces this...

RAID SETS
---------

Name: mirror

We are running 10.4.11 on a PowerMac G5 with 2 SATA disks. We have never
had a spare before. This was a fresh install of tiger too.

When trying to rebuild the mirror with diskutil repairMirror I get...

----

Note: Syncing data between mirror partitions can take a very long time.
2008-03-03 20:27:32.795 DiskManagementTool[25644] Cannot find RAID
children, bailing.

There was an error syncing data between the master and the new mirror slice

----

I have tried this from the 'live' system and from booting the server
install CD as well. Both give the same results. Both drives will also boot
independently without the other attachted. I have also put in a new hard
disk but cannot rebuild with that either.

Any help much appreciated.
Chris.
