Thanks for your response.

I have tried re-kerberizing the server as per the instructions I found here:

http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5917575#5917575

All went smoothly and changeip -checkhostname states that nothing needs changing as the names match.

I went into WGM, created a user and the same error message appears.

I'm off to re-build the server from scratch and see how it goes.

Cheers,
PJR

I have tried a few more things now and found that I can replicate the problem without fail as follows:

  1. Setup DNS with:   od1.domainname.internal
  2. Promote to OD Master with Realm: DOMAINNAME.INTERNAL and search base dc=domainname,dc=internal
  3. Restart server
  4. Open WGM and create a new user - no issues.
  5. Go into Server Admin.app and from the Policy/Authentication tab, untick both WebDAV-Digest and APOP
  6. Open WGM and create a new user - Password Service crashes
Through trial and error I have found that if either WebDAV-Digest or APOP Recoverable Authentication Methods are ticked, I have no errors.  If I untick both of them, the generation of a new user account causes the Password Service to crash with the following error:

Mar 11 10:35:01 od1 ReportCrash[1459]: invalid frame pointer: 0x33333538
Mar 11 10:35:01 od1 ReportCrash[1459]: Formulating crash report for process PasswordService[1328]
Mar 11 10:35:02 od1 com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.PasswordService[1328]): Exited abnormally: Segmentation fault
Mar 11 10:35:02 od1 Workgroup Manager[1454]: Got unexpected error of type Not a known DirStatus (-1) on line 2075 of /SourceCache/WorkgroupManager/WorkgroupManager-319/Plugins/UserAccounts/UserAdvancedPluginView.mm
Mar 11 10:35:04 od1 ReportCrash[1459]: Saved crashreport to /Library/Logs/CrashReporter/PasswordService_2008-03-11-103501_od1.crash using uid: 0 gid: 0, euid: 0 egid: 0

Is anyone else able to replicate this error?

Cheers,
PJR
