I would imagine that 99.9% of the subscribers to this list have
zero interest level in this area.
So then this topic is valid for .1% of the list, why not wait and
see what comments they have to offer instead of offering this non-
related chatter.
Again, what do you expect people to say? Mac OS X Server, in the
context of what hardware it will run on, is no different than Mac OS X.
If you can run some particular version of Mac OS X on some particular
hardware, it will also, from a technical standpoint, run the same
version of Mac OS X Server. What about that is so difficult to
understand, and, more to the point, why didn't you already realize
that to be the case?
I don't think there is much more to say.
If you believe that an Apple-run mailing list is the most appropriate
place to discuss completely violating Apple's wishes[1] for their own
operating system into which they have invested billions of dollars and
hundreds of thousands of manhours, all predicated on a model —
including pricing — which tightly integrates software and hardware for
nearly a quarter century, then we have different ideas of what's
appropriate.
The Psystar "clone" can run Leopard. It can, therefore, also run
Leopard Server. (You could even upgrade the Leopard installation to
Leopard Server, if it came down to it.) Both are equally and
ridiculously unsupported by Apple, or even Psystar in any meaningful
sense. If that's the way you want to run Mac OS X Server and nothing's
going to stop you, go for it.
