No, it was actually a good answer. It pointed out that there is more to
running a *server* than "Oh, it boots and runs". Maybe not in your world.
But in the world of the professional syadmin, things like tech support
matter.

The entire "Oh, I'll just rebuild the hardware" thing ended a long time ago,
at least for IT people who want to do more than have their hands in boxes
all day. That's now, and properly so, relegated to hobbyists and gamers. For
sysadmins, part of what we pay for is that support.

The legal issue is something that will be hashed out by lawyers, but it is
incumbent upon us to not play that role. We are not lawyers, and taking
actions in a professional environment that we know could bring legal
problems to our employers is more than actionable. I don't know any company
that wouldn't hesitate to fire someone doing that, because even if they're
right, *in that instance*, the last thing a company needs is some nit
deciding to get them involved in a neverending string of copyright actions

As well, the fact that Apple's hardware is imperfect is a strawman, and a
pretty pathetic one at that. Apple being imperfect does not, in anyone's
head but maybe yours, justify violating a contract/eula/handshake agreement.
That is just an excuse, so you can avoid in nagging issues of conscience.

But then I consider the source, and such silliness and cluelessness about
operating in an environment that you are not complete lord and master of is
par for the course. If you're so confident you're right about the license
agreement, why not buy a booth at Macworld, sell white-box macs, and send an
email to Apple PR offering Apple-badged employees a 30% show discount,
instead of taking potshots at guys like Dave who are both on list and in
person, genuinely nice people?

Somehow, I doubt your talk will convert to walk in this case
