Re: Printing: AppleTalk vs. LPD



I recently needed to setup an AppleTalk printer (a RISO HC5000). I still don't quite believe them, but the RISO tech I talked with said it doesn't print over IP. Hmmm.

Anyway, I usually shy away from the Mac OS X Server print server, but in this case, resharing the RISO via lpr is working great. Tiger Server FTW.

I am not advocating the use of AppleTalk, just relaying a 'story'.
