According the the license, you must obtain a different serial number
for each instance of the server software you have running, failure to
do so places you in violation of the license.

Testing that new update before you decide to sink your production
system into it.... Snapshot your server and test the update in a
sandbox
Trialling new software.
Make better use of the 8 cores in your server - perhaps having an
OD replica running virtualised as it doesn't really chew that much
CPU load.
