Windows XP VPN Client

I am having trouble getting my 3 Windows machines to maintain a working network connection after they connect to my Xserve's VPN server. I have many Tiger and Leopard users who use OS X's built-in VPN client to connect to the same Xserve - none of them have any issues at all. My three Windows users are using the built-in Windows client to connect - they do successfully connect the the VPN Server, and then connect to DB's we have on the network, but they tell me that anywhere from immediately to 15 minutes into a session they lose network connectivity. I do not mean that the VPN client disconnects them, I mean that they can no longer talk to the DB's, their AIM client quits, if they try to do any browsing on the Web, it takes FOREVER for any pages to load, if they ever do. When I compare the log of a Mac connecting and then disconnecting, to the log made by one of the Windows machines, I really do not see any blatant differences. It shows them connecting, authenticating, what local IP address they are assigned, and then eventually when the client disconnects.

Is there something special I need to do on the Xserve to support Windows VPN client connections? Or, do I need to get a 3rd party VPN client for the Windows users to use? When I looked up the Cisco VPN client it said:

VPN Servers Supported: The Cisco VPN client is compatible with the following VPN servers from Cisco:
• Cisco VPN 3000 Series Concentrator Software 3.0 and later
• Cisco IOS Software 12.2(8)T and later
• Cisco PIX Firewall Software 6.0 and later

My Xserve is running Leopard v 10.5.2.
The L2TP service is the only one enabled.
Authentication is MS-CHAPv2

We have tested connecting the Windows machines to the VPN server both off the network (from two different homes, both having a cable connection) and in the office - the response is the same. They connect just fine to the VPN server and get a local IP address from it, but they can't get any work done as the DB's they connect to eventually drop them because of the slow response time, etc.

I would appreciate any direction in solving this problem. Please let me know if there is any additional information I can supply.

Thanks,

Adrian
