Re: Mail 10.5.3 non-sticky SMTP

Then there's Mail. It's now even worse than in 10.5.2. It did not
work in 10.5.0, or 10.5.1, or 10.5.2. I was so hoping that Apple
would finally make this service work. No such luck. 'Upgrading'
turned off SMTP incoming, and there's no way to get it on. Every
time I click the button and Save, the button simply unchecks itself.

It could also be a bug in the 10.5 admin tools. Until recently I just used the 10.4 admin tools on my 10.4 servers. Now that I added a new 10.5 server I was forced to upgrade to the new admin tools. Every since I did that the admin tools seem to show similar behaviour also on my 10.4 servers:

* I make changes (for example web-site)
* I click save
* I even see network-traffic uploading all new website-configs to the server
* Nothing changes, /etc/httpd/sites is untouched, web service is not even restarted.
* No errors

Server admin seems to have a problem saving settings to the server, however it does not inform you of it, nor can I find anything in the logfiles (checked system.log and servermgrd.log. I also tried killing servermgrd on the server, but that didn't help either.

Not sure what else I can do, running 10.4 and 10.5 admin tools doesn't work (need to reconfigure all my servers every time I switch) and besides, I'd rather not switch too often between the version of these tools.
