Overpriced RAIDS

Why would anyone spend $15,000 for a 16TB RAID these days when you could buy one fast one (800 MB/s) and one mirror for around the same price with a 10GB Ethernet card? The ones from DatOptic have been running RAID 5/6 without any problems in a MacPro Leopard Server. No Fiber needed when using a 10GB Switch and CX4 cable, which I believe would be faster then a 4GB Fiber connection.

I'd rather have redundancy in a second RAID vs all the redundant controller modules, power supplies, battery backup, etc.... within one single RAID.
