Thanks may be you are true. The cronjob is not able to get the password
which hdiutil is expecting to open the sparse image. Now how do I pass the
password to this script instead of getting it from the keychain? I think
it should be possible.
Please....

Hi all,
I have small issue here. I created a sparse image of 600 GB which is
securing password protected. Now my query is I am using "hdiutil compact
<path_to_sparse_image_file> " to reclaim the unused free space. This
command
works fine when I run this manually, but fails to reclaim the free space
if
I run this through cron entry. Also no any error message it displays. But
bit difference in the log, it says
Initializing.......
Attaching........
Finishing.........
But when I run manually it says,
Initializing.......
Finding free space............
Reclaimed 12 %
Finishing..................
Any idea why it is happening...? Any way that I run this through cron
entry
everyday....?
Did you save the password in your keychain? I've seen that if I don't,
hdiutil compact can't compress the DMG without prompting for my password.
I
expect that as your cron job isn't running in your login context, it can't
access your keychain to get at your password.
Cheers,
Graham.
