Mac OS X Server install optical disc differences (bundled v.s. standalone)?

Hello all -

I was reading this rather precarious blog post recently about a fellow who had a heck of a time installing Mac OS X Server on his Mac Minis:

http://www.mulle-kybernetik.com/weblog/2009/04/mac_os_x_server_-_a_critical_f.html

Whether or not OS X Server belongs on a Mac Mini can be debated. However what I realized is that that he inferred that installation optical discs of Mac OS X Server that ship bundled with hardware (such as Xserves) may be "different" from installation optical discs of Mac OS X Server that ship as stand-alone (such as which can be purchased from the Apple Store for 10 user or unlimited user client licenses).

Does anyone have any experiences (problems? differences? exceptions? gotchyas?) with optical install discs of OS X Server (stand-alone v.s. ships-with-hardware)?

Thanks,

Serg
