Hello list,
Have any of you fine folks had the request to disable Entourage 2008's spam filter en masse? Whether it's an MCX control from the server or an AS or Perl/Shell script pushed out from an ARD machine, I'm just looking for a way to avoid touching 300+ machines for this latest mandate.
Cursory search of the web/scripting sites indicates its an internally stored setting and not really accessible via our usual methods, but I figured I'd fly it up the flag pole around here before I give up.I had this exact request come to me, and I came to the same conclusion that you did. Namely, it's not something that can be done programmatically. The reason for the request (and maybe you're dealing with the same thing) was that messages from a certain domain had been erroneously classified as Junk. What I did was write an AppleScript that pulls messages from a specified domain out of the Junk Folder, removes the Junk category, and puts them back in the Inbox. That script was then packaged up, pushed to clients, and made a login item. If you'd like it, I'll send it along, but it wasn't too complicated.I did look at the admin guide, but it wasn't useful in this case. The Junk Mail setting is stored in the user's Database, so the only time to deploy that sort of thing is before your users have accounts created. Once they do, you can't replace their identity, unless you want to start over fresh with their account.
