Can an Xeserve Xeon "Nehalem" use the maximum capacity of 3TB internal disks?

My research leads me to think that the sector size is limited to nothing smaller 512K, meaning the machine can only "see" 2.2TB of a 3TB disk. Am I mistaken? Has anyone successfully formatted 3TB drives in an Xserve so that the entire capacity is visible to the system?
