Hi Guys, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to all! We just upgraded our server to a mac mini server running
10.6.2 and I’m having 2 separate problems. Just to give you all the facts,
I have the Server OS 10.6.2 running on the 2 internal 500GB hd’s which I
have software raided (mirror). We have an external Promise SmartStor
DS4600 Raid 5 (4 X 150GB WD Raptor HDs) All of our file shares are on this RAID
drive. I have the server running with 3 services, OD, AFP, and SMB. I have also
bounded it to our AD server so I can use it for augmented user home directories
(this works fine per Bombich instructions). The first problem is that I can’t use Time Machine to
backup both the OS and the RAID share. Everytime I tell it to also backup the
external RAID share (which is on FW800) it crashes stating some problem has
occurred. I have tried to back it up more than a dozen times. Any insights to this
would be great. I was not sure if there was a “time machine list”
to email, if there is one I would be happy to redirect this question there. The second problem I keep coming into, is that the AFP file
share keeps “crashing” and what I mean by this, my user will try to
login to their shares, and one of two things will happen. It will fail the
connection or it will only mount their Home User folder but none of the other
shares. In both cases, there appears to be nothing wrong with the server, and
in both cases it just needs me to stop the AFP share and start it again to
solve this problem. Any thoughts on both of these matters would be highly appreciated. Thanks again for everything! Have a Happy Holidays and New
Year! I’m hoping to have to ask you less questions in the new year. Sincerely, -- |
