| Hi Before I do something stupid, I'm planning an upgrade which will involve moving user home data to a new server. Almost all users have laptops with mobile homes. Some users have (many gigabytes of) personal data that is not synced to their network home (iTunes and iPhoto) backed up by Time Machine to personal hard drives. The new server will almost certainly have a different name. If I transfer their files to the new server and update their Home entry in Workgroup Manager, will the home folder syncing carry on working, or will it crap out forcing me to delete the mobile home and recreate paired with the new server? Is the old server name stored somewhere on the laptop or will anything need to be reset? I'd like to avoid recreating their mobile homes as it will take a very, very long time moving that much data around. If it makes a difference the current server is 10.5, but the new one will be 10.6 (in fact almost the whole network will be moving to 10.6). Thanks Hope you are all having a merry christmas and happy new year! Kevin Davidson Technical Director Apple Certified System Administrator t 0870 745 4001 m 07813 149620 |
