Potential MkLinux Mac available - PPC-upgraded Quadra 700

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Greetings. I move from my current abode soon, and I must relinquish many of
my older computer systems in the process. I have joined this mailing list
briefly to offer the system detailed below. I have very little experience
with MkLinux, but one of the FAQs I read indicated that "NuBus Macs w/ PPC
upgrade cards" might possibly work with MkLinux. So, I offer this system to
any MkLinux enthusiast or developer that would like to acquire it, with the
stipulation that you must provide the transportation or shipping costs. I am
willing to package it and take it to the local office of your preferred
shipper. The system is located in Charlottesville, Virginia, USA.

Description:
Quadra 700 with a PPC601-100MHz upgrade card (Sonnet Presto); 20 MB RAM as
4MB on-board and 4x4MB, 30-pin SIMMs; 1GB full-height SCSI HDD (Digital
DSP3150). Currently installed OS is MacOS 7.5.5, which was used to test the
system. Please note: The base-installed CPU on this system is a Motorola
68LC040 (the original 68RC040 having been removed). I can, if you so desire,
include a bootable diskette (Mac OS 7.6 disktools 2) with the patched version
of Apple HDSC Setup v7.3.5 that will allow partitioning of the non-Apple HDD,
as well as a version of the Apple CD-ROM extension which will access the
non-Apple CD-ROM drive shown below. I can also include a CD of older Mac
software which includes installers for MacOS versions 7.5.x.

Any or all of the following peripheral equipment is also available:
Apple Color Plus 14" Display; AppleDesign Keyboard + ADB Mouse II; Plextor
6Plex SCSI CD-ROM drive in an Apple CD-150 case w/ SCSI cable and terminator;
Faralon Etherwave AAUI-to-10BT transceiver. No AC power cables are included.

If no one is interested in this older computer for use under MkLinux, fear
not! I have a friend locally that will place it in a good home where someone
can use an older Mac running the MacOS as it is currently configured.

Kindest Regards,
C David Rigby
