MkLinux Control Panel Compatability with Sonnet Crescendo C61-G3-1M-266 card

Dear David and members of the list,

I have a Performa 6116 PowerPC Mac with a Seagate Barracuda 17.1 MB hard
drive. I have 72 MB of ram, and the original 601 processor. I also have a
G3 card installed (the Sonnet Crescendo C61-G3-1M-266 card) The card begins
functioning via a System extension, so it does not actually function when
booting MkLinux after a reboot. Therefore, I can use MkLinux as is as long
as I am still using the 601 processor, but would like to be able to boot
into Linux using the MkLinux Control Panel after the G3 card is running (i.
e. after the Sonnet extension has already loaded, if a workaround can be
figured out to get the MkLinux Control Panel to load after loading the
Sonnet extension.

I know that David Gatwood mentioned when he was starting to work at Apple
that one of the projects that he would be trying to work on involved this,
and I wonder if any progress had been made along these lines. I had not
seen anything on the list regarding this matter in a while, but it is
possible that I missed it.

I am currently running Linuxppc2000Q4, utilizing Takashi Oe's monolithic
nubus kernel, which seems to be considerably faster than the Mach
microkernel, but this may be subjective. Any info concerning the use of the
MkLinux bootloader in conjuction with the Sonnet Crescendo G3 Card would be
greatly appreciated.

Best regards to all,

Louis A. Reed
