Re: MkLinux Installation on Performa 6214 CD

Update:

I am trying to get MKLinux to install on a Performa 6214CD, with 64 mb of
memory and a 6 gb drive (partitioned via pdisk)

I downloaded and burned a CD from the DR1 disk image at the MKLinux ftp site.

I put the MKLinux booter and kernel from that disk into the extensions folder
(fresh OS8.1 install, works fine) of the Performa, the control panel in the
control panels, and the lilo.conf and mklinux.prefs files in the prefs file.

At bootup I get the MKLInix splash screen, but when I click on Boot MKLinux,
it hangs right there. Says 'System Booting ' in the splash screen.

The performa is otherwise dead stock:1 IDE drive, the SCSI CD-rom is apple's
(4x??) drive on ID3 Bus 0. (I've got a 512k cache DIMM in the cache slot, and
2 32 mb simms in the memory slots.) I have a Dayna 10/100 PDS ethernet card,
but removed it in case that's the problem.

I have a 7600 with all sorts of other stuff in it (Old IXMicro pci video card,
usb card, Sonnet G3 processor and a motley assortment of memory) and the thing
boots right into linux when I use the files and instructions from the DR1 disk
I have.

I have tried the Performa kernels from the wip directory on the MKlinux site,
and another installer kernel suggested to me (Thanks Louis) but no go.

It's frustrating...the MKLinux site says that this is the same model of
Performa 62XX that's known to work.
