Re: Installing MkLinux on a Performa 6214 (was "MkLinux Installation")

I'm still trying to figure out how to set up all my old Macs in a beowulf

machines and a 6214 just waiting for me to have time to torture them.

My school has a bunch of Classics and SE/30s lying around (No Q840AVs, though. They have DSPs!)... I was trying to figure out how I could make them into a cluster. I guess I could hook up all the serial ports (each have two, modem and printer) and then run PPP... but then I would use all of my clock cycles on PPP. Oh well.

Actually, I've been working on a program that might be run on a Beowulf cluster if I ever get it finished... unfortunately it involves Fortran... unfortunately the largest problem I want to solve with it will still take a couple hundred years to complete on the 500 machine Beowulf cluster at the local university. I bet the Apple IT folks scratch their heads a bit when they see an
MkLinux box on the network. Anybody know where I can get a Mac OS X
themed windowing manager for it, just to frighten people?

Sawfish, WindowMaker, KDE... all support themes. You can find Aqua themes on themes.org... then you can get an Aqua theme for GTK... I did this for a while in Darwin until I wiped my disk and installed OS X.
