Re: [X-Unix] MkL in Classic

David I think you mean http://user-mode-linux.sourceforge.net/ they are up
to the 2.4.9-3um (3rd patch against 2.4.9) and have ported most of it from
Intel to linuxPPC they still have a signal problem that kills multi-user and
the MkLinux kernel is too old (we would need to update the ptrace call maybe
others) it wants 2.2.15+ or 2.3.22+. Though I seem to remember a small
patch they had that might work. It can also be found in the 2.4.X-acY
series of kernels from Allen Cox

I so far have been unable to even compile successfully under MkLinux due to
header conflicts.

My PB1400 has the sonnet upgrade so I can't use the monolithic kernel :( and
trying to use the apple video card in 16x1024x768 stops after Mach on my
main monitor and doesn't seem to work in 256x800x600 either, I think I tried
256x640x480 anyone run with only a external monitor from the apple video
card in a PB1400 or PB5300?

How would one set up the serial console features especially for mach so that
I could watch it die on the external monitor. Mach seems to start up in blue
text on white but I don't get any of the linux startup that I can remember.

I would assume that the monolithic kernel acts like the regular 2.4 series
and I would put console=ttyS0,9600N8 in lilo.conf. Both the laptop display
and external video only die with a binary graphic dump in the upper left
corner -- it might be saying something interesting but is not text and cant
be read.
