Re: KMail not sending...

I'm on the KMail development team. In fact, I'm hunting down a bug involving
GnuPG and KMail this morning.

I've never used it on mkLinux, 'cause I only have a PowerMac 6100, and
compiling all of KDE on it literally takes days. I'm not sure what version of
KDE is on the pre-R1 CD image that you have. I have a pre-R1 CD image that I
made myself back in March. If it is KDE 2.x, then it is probably 2.0. If not,
then it's likely 1.1.2, and there are several nasty bugs in KMail that
shipped with 1.1.2.

You will get more specific help with your problems if you email
email@hidden, or if you mail me directly. You'll probably need to be
prepared to tell us how you have configured it to read mail from your ISP.

You can just configure KMail to use sendmail to send your mail. Unless you
get a lot of bounce messages with an error that reads something like "denied
by administrative rule," then it will work for you. If you get those bounce
errors, it's because paranoid Admins have rules in place to block mail from
hosts they can't look up in DNS, or that appear to have dynamically assigned
IP addresses. In that case, you'll have to configure it to use your ISP's
SMTP server.

Find out what version of KMail you have by looking in Help->About KMail. Tell
what the version is. Also send me the pertinent details from your SMTP
configuration. You'll want to verify that information with your ISP, too.
