No, I'm saying that individual packages periodically need maintenance as
new vulnerabilities are discovered (generally on x86), and that I'm doing
said maintenance. Whenever a security update comes out, you'll see a post
here and on mklinux-announce.

One of the first rules of security is that no system is ever truly
completely secure. When folks say that a system is "secure", they
generally mean that no vulnerabilities have been found -yet-. :-)

That having been said, 99% of the exploits here are unexploitable on
PowerPC, and most of the others are so hard that I know the names and
addresses of almost everyone who could pull them off. We mostly do
security updates on the PowerPC platform "just in case" rather than
because someone has actually exploited any of these holes. To my
knowledge, there haven't been any successful exploits on PowerPC hardware
under Linux except for one "proof of concept" hack that involved about
half of the LinuxPPC core team helping out for several weeks.... However,
it is always a good idea to keep your system up-to-date with the latest
stuff in contrib.

Should, if you can get the network working on the 5260.... I think the
monolithic guys have a kernel that might support certain cards, but I
could be wrong.

The 5260 is a Quadra 630 with a PowerPC upgrade card grafted in where the
68040 used to be, with new roms and some slight chip re-revs. It isn't
NuBus in the 61/71/81/91xx definition of the word, but it is NuBus-based.

Same machine, different market segment, to my knowledge.

Any IDE drive should work.

Later,
