Installing on PB 1400

I am having problems installing on a Powerbook 1400/133. I partition the
drive according to the user guide, then when booting off of the cd, it hangs
when booting. Does this software work on non apple hard drives? Do I need to
make the Linux partitions Unallocated? If anybody has any ideas, I would be
grateful. Thanks in Advance.
