Re: PowerBook 1400cs & MKLinux

Simon has correctly pointed you to the correct location.

There are some points to stress.

Unless you are one of the luck ones, your expansion bay CD-ROM is probably not usable. I used a large enough hard drive to put the RedHat directory on it and have about 1.999 gig for a combination root directory ( / ). Most everything is placed there so go for it and let MkLinux decide what else it needs.

RAM is critical. No, you can not get by with just a little less than recommended. Make sure you have enough...

Good luck.

Hello all,

My name is Jeremiah and I have an old Powerbook that is still useful. I
want to run linux on it but I am having a hard time. I suspect it is not
possible for this is the second time I tried it, once I attempted at a
Linux User Group meeting in Boston during an install fest to no avail.

I downloaded the latest MKLinux image and burned a new CD. The documents
on the CD images I burned, particularly the README files are notreadable
by my old software Claris Works. I also do not have BBEdit installed.

Is there a resource online which will walk me through the install of
MKLinux on a PowerBook 1400cs?

Yeah, www.mklinux.org/getting_started/index.html
