MPTask hogging CPU

I have an MPTask that does a bunch of image processing. It uses about 86% of
the CPU when it is running without any other apps. As apps are added, the OS
reduces my task's time (all is well).

But, it forces the fan on sometimes on 'books, so... Is there a way to
specify that my task not take more than x percentage of the CPU?
