HELP!!! HOWTO: Dial & Establish Client PPP connection

Hi all,

I need to create a Mac OS C RAS app that connects by modem to some
provider. I WOULD LIKE to specify from code just the basic parammeters:
phone number, username, password, etc and call something like Dial() having
a Status call back function for monitoring the connection and hopefully
some CloseConnection() method to close the remote connection. Is that to be
asking for too much???

I am exhausted of searching for some decent high level TAPI Mac library but
the closest I have found for my needs is the Open Transport/PPP which looks
far too complex indeed to achieve this simple thing, neither have found
decent
sample code for achieving something slightly similar.

I would enormously appreciate any help! I have just started programming in
Mac after having a fair MS C++ side development experience, I found Mac
programming not to be so tough as its network API!!!
