Re: VGA scan conversion

After having no luck with the ADVC-HD50, it was returned in favor of a VGA2USB LR.

Several people here mention using the VGA2USB successfully, and it connects to the recording computer (mac mini) and is able to capture with its own application just fine, however Podcast Producer / Podcast Capture seem to have an unusual problem with it so I'm wondering if anyone here has experienced this:

The mini successfully shared the device to Podcast Producer and is set up as a "camera" which I am able to see and start a recording with.
However no matter what I do, even though it appears to record a capture of any length, once it is submitted to Podcast Producer and processed, the output is never more than 8-10 seconds of the very beginning and nothing more.

The workflow being used works fine with another machine using Podcast Capture and a screen capture.

Thoughts?

Basically it connects, and iChat can see it as a source, however Photo Booth and Podcast Capture don't seem to know what to do with it. I have been able to get the device name to show up, but never any video through either of those applications.

We have one, the results are barely acceptable for slides, but if the presenter shows something a little more complex, like source code, it's impossible to read. So I'm wondering if this can be done in HD. VGA signals are usually 1024*768 or higher res, so it would be a perfect fit for HD video. The problem is that I cannot find any scan converter that does this.

I'm also afraid to go DVI because many people have laptops that do VGA output only, and even among Mac users, most of the ones that have a Display Port enabled Mac only have the DP to VGA converter.
