Jim,

You didn't miss a thing. There is no public API to find out if a printer is local or remote. But you can use the following, currently private, function for this purpose:

OSStatus PMPrinterIsRemote (PMPrinter printer, Boolean *isRemoteP);

We will add this to the PrintCore header in the next major OS release.
