The reason for not being able to do n-up and first from / remaining from with LaserWriter 8 is because the n-up code relies on the 'device' not changing during the print job. Changing the input slot does change the device and breaks n-up. Actually the same issue applies to PostScript printing on Mac OS X. Only we do not implement the dependency between first from / remaining from and n-up in the Print dialog UI.
