Re: PPD printer installation/uninstallation

Hi Paul,

I'm building an installation package for our PPD based printer.

Some questions/remarks:

- a restart is needed when adding a PPD to /Library/Printers/PPDs.... Is
there a way to avoid this?

Use:

/System/Library/StartupItems/PrintingServices/PrintingServices restart

or:

killall -HUP /usr/sbin/cupsd

...
- when having removed the PPD file using my uninstall package, the printer
is still available in the Print Center when adding a new printer. I get:
Error 1030. This is because the specific PPD is not available anymore
It is not the most clean error message to the user. Can it be more
descriptive in an upcoming version?

Use the same commands in your post-uninstall stage to tell the
scheduler to recheck the available PPDs; that will eliminate the
extras.
