Hi, Naoki-san._______________________________________________
Thank you for your suggestion.
I compared two PPD files based on your advice.
One is a PPD created through Printer Setup Utility(PSU).
The other is one created by auto queue creation, which requires to add
a printer entry to the default PM cache manually as told in my last mail.
As the result, I found two major differences between them.
1. The PPD by PSU has invalid entries about manufacturer & product names.
2. It includes Japanese strings(as paper size names), though it sets
"LanguageVersion" entry as "English".
As for the first point, I corrected printer name entries in my PM
to let the resultant PPD have the same entries as that by auto queue
creation.
However, it didn't help.
With second point, I tried switching my language environment to English
through System Preferences, which didn't help either.
Now, I'm at a loss what prevents auto queue creation of my printer.
Is there any requirement for Tioga PM to enable it?
Regards,
K.Mino
Hi Koichiro-san,http://www.lists.apple.com/mailman/listinfo/printing
I had a same problem on my TIOGA printer driver.
My understanding is,
1.PPD analysis is more strict from Panther, heard from this
mailing-list at near days.
2.Some another printer is succeeding the automatically queue creation.
Therefore, I compared these auto generated PPD files, and real USB ID
strings relations.
Maybe you will find some solution on your source code.
I hope this is help for you.

Hi, all._______________________________________________
I have a problem that a queue isn't created automatically
when I connect my USB printer to Panther.
My printer is non-PostScript printer based on Tioga.
Normal operation through Printer Setup Utility create
my queue properly, but not with auto queue creation.
It seems that local Printer Module cache isn't used correctly
on auto queue creation.
My PM is registered in the local cache on installation.
(/Users/xxx/Library/Preferences/ByHost/
com.apple.print.Cache.xxxxx.plist)
Connecting the printer, a printer information file is created
under /tmp/printers/connected.
It has some informations correctly, but lacks the path to the PM,
which proves the system fails to find my PM.
Auto queue creation works fine when registering the PM info manually
in the default PM cache.
(/System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Frameworks
/PrintCore.framework/Resources/com.apple.pmcache.xml)
It seems that the system uses the default cache properly,
but not the local one on auto queue creation.
What is strange to me is that auto queue creation works fine on Jaguar.
I wonder Jaguar uses the different mechanism from Panther.
Regards,
K.Mino
