Re: Help with Rendezvous Printing with Tioga driver in Jaguar

Hi Roger,

Jaguar didn't use the "usb_MDL" and "usb_MFG" keys so you need to have a "product" key/value as well. Like it says in the Rendezvous Printing Spec...

"the value for this key SHOULD be an open parenthesis (0x28), followed by the manufacturer name (MFG), followed by a space (0x20), followed by the model name (MDL), followed by a closed parenthesis (0x29). This value will be used as a fallback to find the corresponding driver in the event that the usb_MFG and usb_MDL keys are missing."

I do think that the spec should be more clear on when you need to have a "product" key. I'll make sure we update it.

I'm developing a Tioga driver for a raster printer that has both USB and network connections. I've got it working via USB and was surprised to find that in Panther, Rendezvous network printing is coming in through the USB connectionType, and that everything "just works."

However in Jaguar, the printer doesn't show up in Rendezvous, and I've tried adding a kPMRendezvousConnection setting, but no luck so far.

I'm using the usb_MDL setting for kPMPrinterBrowserDeviceIDKey, and guessed that it would be looking for the pdl setting for the kPMPrinterBrowserInfoKey setting.

I'm hoping that the missing link is a missing IOM for socket I/O in Jaguar, but am not clear how I'm supposed to point to that so that the Rendezvous browser/IOM find it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
