pdf paper size question

Hi,

I would like to print to a pdf file to a predefined (large) paper size.
I would like to do this even when there are no printers added yet.
Unfortunately calling PMSessionValidatePageFormat after
PMSetUnadjustedPaperRect as recommended, PMSessionValidatePageFormat
will reset the paper size to default.
I found that if I do not call PMSessionValidatePageFormat, my previously
set paper size will be used and the pdf file will be fine, both on
10.3.9 and 10.4.3.
Do you see any counter-argument against this method, or can you suggest
a better way to create a PDF on a user-defined paper size?

Thanks

Geza
