Landscape printing fails if cups is set-up with auto discovery

Hi, I have a problem with printing pages in landscape mode from any application.
I think I know what the problem is but I want to confirm the bug before opening a report with apple.

My setup:
Linux server with cups 1.1.23+gimp-print installed and Browsing enabled in cups
Apple Powerbook Panther 10.3.7, printer gets automatically detected by the printing system.

Now for my problem. If I print a text document in portrait mode in textedit everything works fine.
If I change to landscape mode, preview shows the page in landscape mode BUT it comes out in portrait mode on the printer.

Preview Printer
------------------- --------
|Text in landscape | | |
| | |Text in| landscape
| | | |
|------------------ | |
                              --------

Sorry but my ASCII sucks ;).

If I save the file as PDF and print it from the CLI with "lpr" the page comes out correctly however.
So I took a close look on what was happening when printing out of an application.
First I setup the Page with "Page Setup", then I say print and print it, no problem so far.
Looking at the print command with "ps" shows me that the print-job is using the IPP protocol and has all possible options for my printer added. Colorspace,pagesize,... to name a few. This doesn't happen if I print with "lpr".
"So what" - you might ask, the cups daemon on the printserver gets all the options and uses them no big deal..
This is true but one of the options is "requested-orientation=4" which means, print the following page rotated by 90°. So in this case, the PDF created in "LANDSCAPE" mode gets rotated by 90° degrees and becomes a "PORTRAIT" again.
I think that the print-system shouldn't send requested-orientation if the page file being printed already has that information saved inside itself.
It is still possible that this behaviour is because of a problem with my setu-up here, so maybe someone has a same or similar set-up and can test this before I file a bugreport.
Yes I know that this ML is not supposed to be a help channel, but finding people with similar setups tends to be difficult and I don't really want to file a bugreport before cross-checking my observations.

Thanks for the help in advance,
Mike
