However, reading the URL you kindly supplied, I tried the suggestion:
"Your Xcode target is a native Xcode target. If it isn't, in Xcode you can
choose Project > Upgrade All Targets in Project to Native."
and now all is well:
donal> file klprPDE
klprPDE: Mach-O fat file with 2 architectures
klprPDE (for architecture ppc): Mach-O bundle ppc
klprPDE (for architecture i386): Mach-O bundle i386
Thanks again.

David,
Thanks! It looks like this would be a necessary setting, but it doesn
not seem
to have been sufficient.
After "clean" and "build", I still get only "ppc".

Just a thought, but did you change the Architectures setting on the
project
as well?
See

In particular, read the bit around Figure 1-2.

I have set "Cross develop using target SDK" to "MacOS X 10.4
(Universal)".
The PDE project builds without error.
I end up with:
donal> file klprPDE.plugin/Contents/MacOS/klprPDE
klprPDE.plugin/Contents/MacOS/klprPDE: Mach-O bundle ppc
What am I doing wrong?
