Re: How to check whether Printer Setup Utility is alive or not?

You can add printers with the lpadmin command. PSU should noticed them immediately I think.

ps auxww | grep "Printer Setup Utility"

That is easy enough, thanks.

Is there a way to restart Printer Setup Utility, or even restart it with
arguments like -o addprinter -o ppdlocation=... -o protocol, etc.

Maybe it can only be done from Apple script? (I've never used
Applescript)

Running ps -e doesn't give me anything.
Probably not the most elegant way, but what about this:

ps auxww | grep "Printer Setup Utility"

This even runs on my german system as the core executable is a binary
with a fixed (english) name. But maybe there are better ways to
determine if PSU is launched...

Hope that helps
Michael
