Problem with CUPS filter: cgpdftops

Hi,

During tests of my printer driver for Leopard I ran into the following
problem.
In my Carbon PDE I let the user define a piece of text that is added on
top of the output (= overlay) created by the application.
The user can select the font and the font size in the PDE's UI. In my
PDE I provide a preview dialog in which the user can see how the output
will look.
I created this in Panther and in Tiger and it all worked just fine.
Under Leopard the text in the preview looks fine. However on the
printout the text is missing.
Why?

Perhaps a little bit of technical background may help. In the PDE I use
a CGContext created by QDBeginCGContext. This works OK, meaning that the
preview looks and works te same in Tiger and Leopard.
In the CUPS filter I provide to add the PS to print the overlay I use
CreatePDFContext to create a CGContext. I create my overlay on the
CGContext and the result is stored in a tmp file. I then use a system
call to pass this tmp file through the cups filter "cgpdftops" to
convert the PDF to Postscript.
When I print in Leopard the PS part included in my printjob does not
contain the text specified in the UI. In Tiger I do see the text. When I
use the PDF file created in Leopard in Tiger (using Tiger's cgpdftops) I
do get the overlay text, be it with an italic font instead of a straight
font.
I also tried to use a renamed Tiger cgpdftops filter in Leopard to make
this work, but that does also not produce an overlay.

What has changed in Leopard that this does not work?

Regards,

Hans Loonen
