iWorks08, Safari, more... and foomatic/ghostscript

This is probably not a developer question, but more of a support or roadmap issue. Or I really don’t know.

I have had several problems with printing to a PCL Nashuatec DSC424 multifunctional printer. I have the correct PPD from Ricoh that manufactures the printer and it prints well from Adobe CS3. It also print from works as long as there are no images included in the page. But this is not consis as some pictures make it. I have used a template in iworks 08 so the error may be reproduced if you have iWorks 08. The template is in wordprosessing-reports-scholl reports. Blue with the big yellow flower. This happens:

- The two pages in the template do not print.

- If I delete the first page. The second page prints.

- If I insert a .psd file in the second page after the first page is deleted, it doesn’t print.

Here is the error log from printing both pages:

I have posted about this in Apples Support Discussions and on linuxpinting.org. One of the replies was about iworks using pdf instead of postscript. Does it means that postscript is one its way out as printer? And more important is foomatic/ghostscript supposed to work under Leopard and how do I set it up? Is this just a iWorks error.

My system is 10.5.1 latest ghostscript and foomatic from linuxprinting and the official PPD for this printer from Ricoh iWorks is the latest also.

Thanks for any help
