I have a Mac Book Pro 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2
SDRAM. I recently upgraded to OS 10.5 and now am at Version 10.5.1.
I am having problems with several Brother printers including my FAX-4100e. I
have tried it with the CUPS drivers as well as the generic postscript
driver.
With the generic driver, when the paper feed option is selected it allows me
to choose either the "All pages from' button or the "First page from",
"Remaining from" button. However, as would be expected, the choices for Tray
2 are not shown even though I have a second tray.
However, when I select the CUPS driver I can choose the "Print all pages
from" button. When I do that the full choice of both paper trays is shown.
BUT... The "Remaining from" and button is grayed out so I am unable to make
this selection.
This problem seems to be present only with Brother printers. It appears no
matter which Brother printer driver I choose. It does not appear with my
office's GCC and HP printers.
Is this a Leopard problem? PPD file problem? Other problem? Any ideas on
how I could modify a PPD file or some other file so that the printers work
correctly?
