Hello list,

Is it possible to use backends that have cupsBackChannel support for other communication uses? From what I understand, in order for the backend to run, it has to be associated with a print job and a DEVICE_URI to be able to communicate with the specific device.

a trivial example: What if I have an application that sends a command to the printer to power off? Can we use existing printing backends to send bytes to the printer? If so, how?
