Using Build to manage PHP projects?

There was a recent posting on the Apple Web Dev list about using PB to edit large PHP projects, and the possibility of setting up Build styles to manage the differences between, say, a staging server and a production server. This sparked my interest.

I found some hints on the Mac OS X Hints site, downloaded a language definition file and made a few edits to it to enable line numbering and syntax coloring and so forth for php files. All great -- love the site-wide code searching, if nothing else, and the organization possible using the tree navigation. I am looking forward to the Xcode variant for even more on the usability and utility fronts.

I searched the archives of this list, and found a few disconnected bits on the topic. But has anyone on this list done any work toward setting up a Build that would copy over selected files, perhaps copying over one set of includes for the development server, and a different set for production? What Target should I choose as my model to get into this? Is there a primer somewhere that would explain this glossy IDE to someone whose last foray into "real" executable programming was in 1979?

Thanks in advance,

Walter
