While I understand the sentiment, it would be good for Apple to make it available for those that did not know WWDC was going to be the pre-order method. I guess for those that missed that chance we can sign up for select membership.

As has been said elsewhere, you either preordered it for a grand or two (although Apple did throw in WWDC at no extra cost), or you wait for it to show up in the ADC Select/Premiere CD mailing. (And, at that, you get the prerelease. The final one comes out with the Panther final release later this year.)
