This is true. The imaging model which Quartz presents is equally valid in print as it is on-screen. That does not change the fact that high-end printing features are not currently part of that model.

I agree. In my opinion these two routines are actually misplaced. In a strict sense they should be part of CGPDFContext and not part of the generic CGContext API. I imagine, however, that these routines were promoted to the generic interface so that applications which rely on the paging features of the API can treat page-oriented devices uniformly.
