As a general rule, when you pass an object to a Core Foundation routine (or an object like CGShading which obeys Core Foundation syntax) it should be the case that if the routine needs to keep the object around, it will retain it. Basically... you should feel free to release the object when you get back from the routine. If you're looking for actual documentation of this fact, you should probably look in the Core Foundation documentation, not the Core Graphics documentation. Scott |
