This private setting is systemwide and affects all beam sync operations in the system. Please do not do this. This is an abuse of the system and it's resources. There are very likely better ways to accomplish what you are trying than to resort to this. Unfortunately I joined in the middle so I don't have the full context of your problem.


What would have been much more useful for us is to have an API to selectively enable beam syncing for various flavors of environment and/or surface:  CF, CG, NS, gl, etc.


If you can turn off beam synching on a per-window (or per surface basis) then you really don't have any beam synching any more! :-)

It would particularly "interesting" for windows that have, for example, both an OpenGL and a Core Graphics "surface" on them.
