Upgrading to Quartz

Hi,

I have a simple QuickDraw problem I'd like to solve with Quartz, if possible.

I have a 64x64 pixel image, currently stored as an RGBA array of data, which I'd like to superimpose a PNG onto. After that, I'd like to copy the new image back into the 64x64 pixel RGBA array. 

Where should I start?
