Re: Video Display - QC View v's QC Renderer performance?

I've made a new Comp with just the Video Input and the Billboard. I turned off 'Enable Direct Core Image Rendering',

This will have no effect if you don't use Core Image effects

but seemed to get better results with 'High Quality' on. The Video Device settings are set to the native format of the DVCPRO HD 1080i input. I have tried other codecs for the compression setting even trying 'None' but most don't work or seem to add to the burden as this would require on the fly transcoding from DVCPRO HD to that codec's compression type.

In this setup the Viewer shows the frame rate as jumping between 16.x and 59.x fps with 9% and 90% Rendering Load respectively, but overall its very blurry and jerky and looks more like 18fps.

I also turned on 'Use YUV Texturing if available' as this seemed to improve frame rate (as reported by the Viewer) so long as texturing is set to 2D. What is tis doing and should I have the bottom setting for 'Texture Parameters' set to Bilinear (currently set to None)?

Using 2D texturing instead of Rectangle will resize the source video images to have power-of-two dimensions, so you shouldn't do that

Other texture parameters will have no performance effect
