Video Input patch doesn't see camera?

What input sources does the Video Input patch (OSX 10.4.7) look at?

I have a Canopus ADVC-55 (Firewire A/D converter). iMovie sees it as a camera, records from it, etc. But QC doesn't seem to know it's there. Are there any settings, input parameters, etc. to tweak, or something other way to get Video Input to see my video input?
