| Good day, I have been a part of this List for a while now and have gleaned a few insights into a world that my brain simply does not lean towards and I am still a long way off 'getting' it. I use a number of entry-level VJ apps, shoot a lot of footage and illustrate After Effects & Flash visuals to compliment my mates live laptop music performances (myspace.com/brokenchip). For some time now I have wanted to incorporate and layer in some live 'reactive' visuals that are generated from received audio spectrums and midi signals. I have very much enjoyed delving into Eskatonia's AudioCitiesOfTheFuture and various other tutorials as a learning process and am amazed at the results, processing ecenomy of QC and also that an exported quicktime mov can not only be just a set movie but a dynamic reactive visual via SoundFlower. However, when I go to combine my other source material with these movs through VJ apps, the QC movs draw a blank. The mov reacts and works tops through quicktime but when I drop that QC mov into a VJ app it becomes less than interesting. Is this a misunderstood setting or am I simply using incompatible VJ apps? If anyone could recommend a mac-based compatible VJ app (not quartzonian - though I do enjoy that for other reasons, I have an existing set-up with hardware controllers) or any other guiding light, I would really really like to move forward in this direction and incorporate QC generated .mov files into a show as well as develop some digitally generated art this way. Apologies in advance, considering the in-depth quirks and fixes I read on this list, this really is pretty basic stuff but my background is graphic and motion design so the extent of my ability is to basically draw squiggly pictures and colour things in all day...
